The Broncos have hired a defensive coach to get the most out of a defense that fueled a championship four years ago. A third-round pick from Ohio State could quickly become a key part of the defensive line in Denver.Third-rounder Dre’Mont Jones Dalton Risner Jersey , the 71tst overall pick in the draft, will have a chance to contribute in various ways, as explained by Kyle Fredrickson of the .Coach Vic Fangio has said, via Fredrickson, that Jones is best suited to play defensive tackle in the nickel package, but that “the techniques in there are very similar to our base package also.” Fangio pointed out that Jones, who also will get snaps at defensive end during training camp, will “just be thrown in the mix with the other guys and let the competition play itself out.”Undersized at 281 pounds, Jones finds motivation in the notion that he’s too little to make an impact from the inside.“I feel I have a chip on my shoulder just being considered a small defensive tackle,” Jones said. “I feel I can be out there and just be raw and be faster and just play nasty.”Jones’ father, Sanderline Williams Womens Noah Fant Jersey , professional boxer in the 1980s, once claimed he was offered $30,000 to take a dive against Roberto Duran. Dre’Mont didn’t join the family business, but he sees similarities in his chosen career.“Pass rushing and fitting the run is basically like boxing,” Jones said. “You’re punching, striking and being physical with your hands all the time. That definitely translated.”Teammates have already noticed, during the offseason program.“I see the hands and the feet of a pass rusher and he’s only going to get better,” defensive lineman Derek Wolke said, via Fredrickson. “That was a great pickup for us.”Jones technically hasn’t even gotten started. Come September, he could be showing up plenty for the Broncos’ defensive line, and he could be wreaking havoc in Fangio’s defense. Broncos Country is in full on QB frenzy and I totally get it. Case Keenum inspires so little confidence there are some who would prefer Blake Bortles or Joe FlaCco. Meanwhile the rest of the team looks poised to seriously contend for the playoffs in 2019. That’s why articles like Jeffrey Essary’s make a ton of sense Womens John Elway Jersey , especially if you believe there’s a QB that will grow into a top 10 talent in the 2019 crop.Denver Broncos can’t afford to play it safe at quarterback anymore - Mile High ReportOne of the Broncos strengths has been getting value out of it’s player acquisitions and not overpaying for anything, but that approach has yielded table scraps at the quarterback position. The problem is finding a willing trade partner. The same issue likely cost Elway his shot at Sam Darnold last year when the New York Giants refused to move behind the Cleveland Browns and lose their shot at Saquon Barkley. Chances are, if the Broncos are going QB hunting they’ll need to move way up, especially in light of Drew Lock’s Senior Bowl week that has set the NFL abuzz. In the last week I’ve seen plenty of talk about the cost it would take to move up to 2, but that seems misguided. Unless it becomes a certainty that the Arizona Cardinals are taking Nick Bosa, John Lynch and the 49ers are likely to sit idle at 2 for a chance at their franchise edge rusher. Unless the Broncos front office works out an “if/then” deal for once Bosa goes (and that’s assuming Kyle Shanahan doesn’t have his eyes on Quinnen Williams or someone else at 2) Denver is unlikely to move up that far. With that ruled out, the Broncos best chances to get ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars appears to be the New York Jets at 3 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 5. Oakland’s probably not helping Denver grab their franchise guy, especially after Gruden spent a week evaluating him. New York just grabbed their guy last year after the same kind of aggressive move that Denver needs to pull. The Jets traded 3 second round picks as well as their 2018 first rounder to move up from 6 to 3. That means they’ll probably demand more to slide from 3 back to 10, but with Darnold in place may be open to doing so.Tampa is the other realistic possibility. Jameis Winston has at least one more season to prove he’s “the guy” and the Bucs need a ton of defensive help. Multiple picks would let Arians and company throw more darts at the board to see what hits. Additionally the cost of moving from 10 to 5 isn’t nearly as high. It will be expensive, but the Broncos need to ensure they get high enough in the draft order that another team can’t surpass them at the last moment. The Giants, Jaguars and Washington loom as QB needy teams likely to pounce on a rookie. That cost is the same reason some are cooling on the possibility.
