ST. LOUIS -- Even with leading scorer Alexander Steen watching from the press box, the St. Louis Blues had plenty of offence. Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrik Berglund scored 1:17 apart late in regulation to tie it and defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk netted the deciding goal in the fifth round of a shootout in a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. "We sure do miss some great and important players, but we still have to get points, win games," said Berglund, who beat rookie goalie Antti Raanta on a power play with 2:34 to go. "Obviously, a good start for that is to come back against this team and in this building." Shattenkirk had an assist for his 27th point and scored his second game-deciding shootout goal against the Blackhawks. Last season, he scored in the seventh round of a 4-3 victory on April 4 in Chicago. "They have a little more faith in me," Shattenkirk joked. "Its nice when you get out there and you have a chance to win it for your team." Patrick Kane had a goal and assist in the Blackhawks second three-goal first period in two nights and extended his point streak to 14 games. Kane added another assist on Brent Seabrooks goal in the third period that made it 5-3 -- Chicagos third two-goal lead. "They couldnt handle us in their zone, and we couldnt handle them in our zone," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "So it just goes back and forth. I was happiest that we stayed with it." The Blues are 3-0 against the Blackhawks, who lead the NHL with 60 points. Two wins were by shootout and all three were decided by a goal. St. Louis faced deficits of 2-0, 3-1 and 5-3 without Steen, who was placed on the injured list on Saturday because of a concussion. Steen, who is second in the NHL with 24 goals, is out indefinitely. "The crowd was into it, great intensity," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "Good for the sport. Tough for us." Brian Elliott finished strong in the Blues net after Jaroslav Halak was pulled following a rough first period. "We were discouraged and so I just felt like we needed to do something to kick us into a different gear," Hitchcock said. "Sometimes those things work and sometimes they dont." Kane has eight goals and 17 assists during his point streak. Patrick Sharp scored his 22nd goal in the first period and has six goals in three games. T.J. Oshie and Tarasenko also scored in the shootout for St. Louis. Jonathan Toews and Sharp scored for Chicago, which failed on chances by Marian Hossa and Kane to end it. Kane, who shot wide, is 0-for-9 in the shootout. "We knew they werent going to quit," Kane said. "Of course its frustrating. We got a point, so I guess thats one positive you can take from it." The Blackhawks faded one night after they beat Colorado 7-2 at home, and fell to 7-0-3 on the second day of back-to-back games. Berglunds tying goal came with Niklas Hjalmarsson off for holding. Kane, Toews and Duncan Keith had two points apiece in the first period for Chicago. Seabrooks floating shot from near the blue line 1:06 into the third gave the Blackhawks a 5-3 lead. Elliott replaced Halak, who stopped only 10 of 13 shots in the first period. The Blues tied it at 3 on rookie Dmitrij Jaskins first NHL goal in the second period. "It was a lucky shot," Jaskin said. "I was just excited, really excited." NOTES: The Blues had their first home sellout of the season with a standing-room crowd of 20,082. At this rate, the Flyers captain is set to be remembered more for a fantastic finish.HENDERSON, Nev. -- Stacy Lewis shot 7-under 65 to lead the LPGA Tour team to the championship of the 3Tour Challenge on Tuesday. The LPGA Tour combined for a score of 17 under, edging the Champions Tour by one stroke and beating the PGA Tour by nine strokes. Lewis (31-34) had eight birdies, including six birdies on the first nine holes at the Rio Secco Golf Club, and one bogey to pace the LPGA Tour toward its first 3Tour win since 2009. Last year, the LPGA Tour lost a two-hole playoff to the PGA Tour team. Natalie Gulbis, with four birdies and two bogeys, was next for the LPGA Tour at 2 under. Cristie Kerr, the LPGAs third golfer, didnt have her score count on five holes in this two-player, best-ball format that allowed each team to discard one score per hole. The LPGA Tour took over the lead for good on the fifth hole, which Lewis and Kerr birdied and Gulbis bogeyed. Kenny Perry missed a 7-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th hole that would have sent the match into a playoff with the LPGA Tour team for the Champions Tour Team. Perry and Bernhard Langer didnt score on all 18 holes for the Champions Tour, who were led by Fred Funk at 4 under. "As soon as he (Perry) hit that shot in there I kind of saw last year happening all over again," Lewis said. "I immediately grabbed my glove, and I think all three of us had it in our head that we were going to go to a playoff. It was pretty surprising he missed it, but glad to be on the right side of it this time. "I made six birdies on the fronnt, so it kind of got us off to a really good start.dddddddddddd I didnt make as many birdies on the back side, but Cristie and Natalie kind of held me in there. The guys can kind of turn it on, it seems, whenever they want to, so we knew coming out of those last three holes we had to make some birdies." Billy Horschel paced the PGA Tour team, which also included Boo Weekley and Jason Day, at even-par 72 (36-36). The PGA went 5 over on the par-4 18th hole, where Horschel had a quadruple-bogey and Weekley bogeyed. The LPGA Tour team received $500,000, the second-place Champions Tour team earned $270,000 and the third-place PGA Tour team got $230,000. It was the sixth win for the LPGA Tour in the 22 years the event has been held. The PGA Tour has claimed nine titles while the Champions Tour has seven. "We were so close last year, and the last couple years for that matter," Kerr said. "We came out strong, we came out trying to win it and really got the break of Kenny missing the putt on the last hole or we would have been in another playoff. "We made so many birdies and they seemed to respond on the back nine really strong, and we didnt get lucky, but we got the break when we needed to." "We were extra excited (about) the win today because we lost a playoff last year," Gulbis said. "So we were in the mix and lost a playoff to the PGA Tour, and it looked like it was almost going to go to playoff again today. So were pretty excited to win it." ' ' '
