PARIS -- Aleksandra Wozniak and Sharon Fichman went down to defeat on Tuesday in the French Open first round, leaving 18th-seed Eugenie Bouchard as the last Canadian in the womens draw. Wozniak wasted a match point in her 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-2 first-round loss to Romanias Sorana Cirstea. Torontos Fichman, ranked 77th, lost to sixth-seed Jelena Jankovic 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 in a match interrupted by darkness last in the second set on Monday. The first meeting between qualifier Wozniak, the world No. 149 from Blainville, Que., and 26th-ranked Cirstea lasted for just over 90 minutes in dry but chilly conditions. Wozniak, who has struggled with rehabilitation from a 2012 shoulder injury, had her chances to close out a win as she led the second set 5-4 But she dumped a backhand into the net on her winning chance, allowing Cirstea to eventually hold serve and tie the set at five games apiece. "It was one point to win the match, Im disappointed that I didnt cover it," Wozniak said. Cirstea then broke Wozniak for a 6-5 lead and tied the match at a set apiece a game later. The third set was a disaster for Wozniak, who lost serve to start and was beaten with a forehand down the line. Wozniak said she was carrying a thigh injury from her second qualifying match and felt it during her loss. "The first two sets were real battles," Wozniak said, before giving credit to Cirstea. "She played well, shes a good player with a solid ground game, I knew what I was facing when I went into the match. Im disappointed it didnt go my way today. "Still, it was god experience to win three qualifying rounds. They helped me put in the work I needed. Its been two years since Ive played on real (European red) clay." Wozniak finished with 42 unforced errors and lost serve seven times while breaking Cirstea on four of eight chances. The Romanian won despite 51 unforced errors. Wozniak had her best Grand Slam result at Roland Garros in 2009 when she reached the fourth round. Fichman won her opening set on Monday against former No. 1 Jankovic but trailed 1-5 when darkness fell. When they came back, it was Jankovic in command, with the Serb winning the second set and breaking in the second game of the third. Fichman played catch-up all through the final set and saved a match point before taking the loss with 30 winners and 41 unforced errors. "At 3-all in the last set, I felt I got back into it, I played some good games," said Fichman. "Shes a tough player and is where she is for a reason. "She didnt give any free points; I knew I had to try and earn the match myself. I had a break point at 4-3 but I couldnt convert it. But the fact that I put myself into this position and had the chances is a positive thing. I hope to keep improving and take the good things from this match." Shoes Ireland Free Shipping . LOUIS -- To stay a step ahead of goaltenders, T.ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has become only the fifth player in major league history to hit 100 home runs for three different teams. Beltre, in his fourth season with Texas, hit his 100th homer for the Rangers on Wednesday night against the Colorado Rockies. It was his second this season, after hitting his first Tuesday night. Before joining the Rangers, Beltre hit 147 homers for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1998-2004) and 103 homers for Seattle (2005-09).dddddddddddd The other players with 100 homers for three different teams are Darrell Evans (Atlanta, San Francisco and Detroit), Reggie Jackson (Kansas City/Oakland, New York Yankees, California), Alex Rodriguez (Seattle, Texas and Yankees) and Jim Thome (Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago White Sox). ' ' 'id. "Im just going to continue to be who I am. And if something like that does happen, you make the statement to make sure everybody gets its cleear.dddddddddddd But I dont think I can change who I am just because people are going to take my words and put them against me." Meanwhile, Griffins backup, Kirk Cousins, did not practice Wednesday after spraining his right foot in the Monday night preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was using crutches and wearing an immobilizing boot after that game, but both were gone when he appeared in the locker room around lunchtime. "Im still walking a little gingerly," he said, "but its getting better every day." Cousins confirmed that an MRI showed "nothing serious, nothing long-term" with his injury. Shanahan said Cousins is a "long shot" to play Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. "The balance between healing and wanting to play is what every athlete has to face," Cousins said. "Right now in the preseason, its probably more important to rest and get healthy so that youre there during the season." Griffin debuted an "Operation Patience" T-shirt when he was working out before Monday nights game. Now Cousins could use one. "Well see if Robert has one for me," Cousins said. In one respect, he timed his injury perfectly. Wednesday marked the first practice at the newly renovated Redskins Park, where the outdated training facilities have been upgraded as part of a $30 million makeover partially funded by taxpayers. "Between the cafeteria and the hot and cold tub and the underwater treadmill -- which I think Im going to put to use here later today -- and the weight room, its spectacular," Cousins said. "When you get injured, you start to appreciate having the improved facilities." Notes: Shanahans relationship with Griffin isnt nearly as contentious as the one he had with defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth a few years ago. When told Wednesday that Haynesworth was opening a restaurant in Knoxville, Tenn., the coach smiled and said: "I hope he has a good crew working for him." ... Even though hes from Michigan State, Cousins was wearing a Nebraska T-shirt when he entered the locker room. He changed to another shirt before talking to reporters. Why? Because Nebraska gear is sponsored by Adidas, and the NFL has a deal with Nike. "I cant be getting fined on a league minimum," Cousins said. ... Shanahan said DT Barry Cofield (broken bone in right hand) would be able to play Saturday if it were a regular season game. WRs Aldrick Robinson (bruised left thigh) and Leonard Hankerson (bruised right knee) practiced. RB Keiland Williams (strained left knee) did not. ' ' 'ams were interested though the Colts were his first choice. "For me, as long as my bodys feeling healthy and I can continue to kick at a high level, I dont see why I cant continue to play on. I know Morten (Andersen) played until he was 47. I think Gary (Anderson) played until he was 46. I know Im 41 but in that sense, theres a handful of years left, not just two." Davis felt much the same way. After Miami traded Davis to Indy just before the 2012 season opener, the former first-round pick emerged as the Colts top cover cornerback. Most outsiders figured that with the price of cornerbacks rising considerably after Sam Shields signed a big deal with Green Bay and Brent Grimes signed a big deal with Miami, Davis was as good as gone if he didnt re-sign before the free agent market opened Tuesday afternoon. Not so. "My agent informed me that the Colts came in and we had an offer that we accepted," Davis said. "In reality, I didnt want to leave the Colts. I listened to other teams, but I wanted to get back (to Indy), so we made it work." Financial terms of the four deals were not immediately available. Indy also signed Jones, a 6-foot-3, 315-pound defensive end, who played his first two seasons in Baltimore when Colts coach Chuck Pagano was an assistant with the Ravens. Last season, Jones started a career high 13 games, finished with a career best 53 tackles and had four sacks. Hes big enough to play inside or outside in the Colts 3-4 front, but the Colts wanted Jones for more than just versatility. "He is an outstanding producer down after down versus the run and pass," Grigson said. "Hes a guy who plays at a championship level week after week and lays it on the line every time he steps out on the field. He is a great fit for our team." Jones is expected to undergo a team physical Wednesday. Bradshaw was off to a promising start last season after recovering from a foot injury, which led to his departure from the Giants. He rushed for 186 yards and two scores before injuring his neck in Week 3 against San Francisco in September. Bradshaw never returned from that injury and finished the season on injured reserve. Whats next for a team that started the day roughly $36 million under the $133 million salary cap is anybodys guess. The Colts are still looking to solidify their offensive line, especially after releasing starting centre Samson Satele late last week to save about $4 million. They could still use another pass rusher to help NFL sacks champion Robert Mathis; are likely still seeking a receiver to help Andrew Luck; and might now need a safety after losing two-time Pro Bowler Antoine Bethea to San Francisco. But what Indianapolis does have is stability. "If there wasnt a business side in football, I would still choose to go back to the Colts," Davis said. "When you go to the Colts, man, its something you hold with you for the rest of your life." Stephen Weiss posted a goal and two assists, Drew Miller scored a short-handed goal, Henrik Zetterberg also lit the lamp and Petr Mrazek made 37 saves in the Red Wings sixth straight win. We really battled it out. It wasnt always pretty, but youve got to get those sometimes, Glendening said. Florida went on the power play with 2:32 remaining after Drew Miller was called for interference and pulled Montoya for a two-man advantage. Mrazek, howeveer, fought off the Panthers barrage for the win.dddddddddddd On the penalty kill early in the game, Miller took Jonathan Ericssons bank pass off the boards in the neutral zone, skated in on a breakaway and backhanded the puck through Luongos pads to start the scoring 8:06 into the contest. The Panthers went ahead with two quick two power-play goals. Barkov finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play with a wrister from the right side of the net during a 5-on-3 at 9:08 and Pirris slap shot trickled through the pads of Mrazek just 68 seconds later for a 2-1 lead. Early in the second, Gustav Nyquist took Luongos failed clear behind the net and sent a pass toward the slot. Justin Abdelkader tipped it to Zetterberg, who made it a 2-2 game on a wrist shot 32 seconds into the middle stanza. Detroit took a 4-2 lead with two quick goals. Glendening took the rebound of Weiss stuff attempt in front and lifted the puck over Luongo at 7:07 of the second and 1:19 later, Weiss tapped in Riley Sheahans cross-crease pass.
